Will I need an ETIAS or a Schengen Visa?
Latvia is part of both the EU and the Schengen Zone. This means that an ETIAS visa and a Schengen visa will both be sufficient for getting the holder into the country. However, you should consider the rest of your journey or any likely future journeys when applying. A Schengen visa will only allow you to visit one country on your journey (Latvia). ETIAS will allow you to visit an unlimited amount of EU countries within a 3 year period. However, remember to check if you are eligible for both visas prior to starting an application.
Why should I visit Latvia
Latvia is a hidden gem in terms of tourism. It has beautiful, uncrowded beaches, quirky cities and all of it is almost untouched by foreigners. The main attractions of Latvia lie in the capital Riga, with its elegant old town full of glorious and grandeur architecture. The freedom monument and House of Blackheads are just some of the draws here.
Outside Riga, nature is everywhere. Other cities are far smaller and even more green than the capital itself. Cities like Ventspils on the coast display there links to nature throughout, with cow statues and festivals dedicated to the sea.
